Worlds Around You allows visitors to engage with the students’ artwork through hands-on activities, such as a sticker collection and an exclusive edition of SAM’s RE-Material handling collection, offering audiences an interactive experience that mirrors the creative journey of these young artists.

This initiative is part of SAM’s Think! Contemporary programme, which integrates art into school curricula, using contemporary artworks to inspire students’ critical thinking and personal expression.

Students from CHIJ Our Lady Queen of Peace, Geylang Methodist School (Primary), Haig Girls’ School, Mayflower Primary School, St. Anthony’s Primary School, and Xinghua Primary School have contributed to this exhibition, presenting their artistic responses to themes around identity, community, and the environment.

Each school took inspiration from SAM’s collections and current exhibitions, exploring pieces like Vicente Delgado’s We Are Family, Olafur Eliasson’s The cubic structural evolution project, Dawn Ng’s HDB Corridor and Mamashop, Jing Quek’s series Singapore Idols, Nguan’s Untitled series, and Jason Wee’s Self-portrait (No More Tears, Mr. Lee).

The Think! Contemporary programme, initiated in 2012, encourages young students to use art as a learning tool, sparking curiosity and engaging them in discussions around social and cultural issues.

Through this exhibition, SAM aims to cultivate a love for the arts among young learners, giving them the platform to share their unique perspectives and contribute to the community.
