Starting May 13, 2024, the Singapore Traffic Police will no longer accept walk-ins for certain driving license services. Instead, appointments for these services must be booked online. Let’s delve into the details:

1. What Services Are Affected?

The following services will no longer be available for walk-ins:

  1. Changing Driving License Particulars: If you need to update any information on your driving license (such as your address, name, or other particulars), you’ll need to book an appointment online.
  2. Converting a Foreign Driving License to a Singapore License: Individuals holding foreign driving licenses who wish to convert them to a Singapore license will also need to use the online appointment system.

2. The New Online Appointment System

The Traffic Police have introduced an online appointment system to streamline these services. Here’s how it works:

  • Photograph Updates: If you want to change the photograph on your driving license or update your citizenship status, use the online appointment system.
  • Collecting or Cancelling a Driving License: Whether you’re collecting a new license or canceling an existing one, book your appointment online.
  • Driving License Extract Requests: If you need an extract of your driving license, use the online system.
  • Conversion of Foreign Driving Licenses: Applicants seeking to convert their foreign driving licenses will now submit their applications online via an online form. This follows a successful trial for Malaysian driving license holders announced in July 2022.

3. What to Expect

  • Application Outcome: Applicants will receive updates on their applications via email within six weeks. Only successful applicants will be given an appointment date and time for the conversion process.
  • Document Verification: During the appointment, applicants must bring both original and copy documents to the Traffic Police headquarters for verification.

4. Exceptions

From April 29 to May 12, walk-ins for these services will still be allowed. However, starting May 13, all walk-ins will cease, except for long-term visit pass holders renewing or replacing their driving licenses.

5. The Traffic Police’s Request

The Traffic Police appreciate the public’s understanding as they process a high volume of applications for foreign driving license conversion. Authentication of documents and ensuring eligibility criteria are met take time. Your patience is crucial during this transition
