Located in Orchard Road’s Takashimaya Shopping Centre, the casual noodle shop is the Tokyo brand’s first international offshoot. Decked in natural wood and soothing neutral tones, the restaurant serves hot and cold udon made-to-order, including the unusual East-meets-West Udon Carbonara. Featuring thick kamaage udon and topped with parmesan cheese, butter, pepper, spring onion, a raw egg and a slab of bacon tempura, it’s unbashedly indulgent – rich, savoury and comforting.
For something lighter, try the Tempura Zaru Udon. Elegantly presented on a bamboo tray, the cold udon is accompanied by a selection of shrimp and vegetable tempura. Lightly battered and crispy, they bring a nice textural contrast to the bouncy noodles. There’s also a good variety of beverages, including premium sake, umeshu and the housemade Udon Shin Honey Lemonade.
