Twelve years after its sold-out debut, Nine Years Theatre (NYT) is bringing back the Mandarin adaptation of Twelve Angry Men, a production first staged at Esplanade’s Huayi – Chinese Festival of Arts 2013, where it became an instant sensation and clinched four Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards, including Best Director and Best Ensemble.
From 7 to 9 November 2025, this courtroom classic returns to the Singtel Waterfront Theatre at Esplanade, co-produced by Esplanade and NYT. With a fresh cast of 12 dynamic actors, the play promises to be just as powerful, provocative, and gripping as its first run.
A New Cast, A Timeless Story
This revival features a stellar ensemble, including Danny Yeo, veteran actor Wu Weiqiang, and returning original cast member Tay Kong Hui, alongside Oliver Pang, Dwayne Lau, Tang Shaowei, Timothy Wan, Tan Guo Lian Sutton, Ryan Ang, Clement Yeo, Pauli Haakenson, and Vester Ng. Each brings a unique perspective to this timeless story of consensus, conflict, and conscience.
Set in a suffocating jury room, the drama unfolds as twelve strangers debate the fate of a young boy accused of murder. What begins as a legal procedure quickly becomes a deeper examination of prejudice, conviction, and the human conscience leaving audiences with one haunting question: When you look at the twelve men on stage, do you also see yourself?
