Three people were taken to Singapore General Hospital after a fire erupted in a Housing and Development Board flat at Block 229 Lorong 8 Toa Payoh on 29 July, 2025.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post that it was alerted to the fire in the 10th-floor unit at about 1pm.
When firefighters arrived, the fire was raging inside the unit. Three people were assessed for smoke inhalation and burn injuries.
They were then taken to Singapore General Hospital for further treatment.
In an update at 3.22pm, the SCDF confirmed that the fire in the 10th-floor unit had been brought under control using two water jets.
Firefighters also conducted a forcible entry into a unit on the 11th floor to tackle a separate fire burning above.
The SCDF shared a photo showing firefighters damping down the affected unit on the 10th floor to prevent any rekindling.
Footage shared by residents and passers-by showed thick, dark smoke billowing from several windows.
Some window frames appeared severely damaged due to the intense heat.
