Tengah FC celebrate their Singapore Football League 2 title victory, 3 November 2024
SINGAPORE, 4 NOVEMBER 2024 – Tengah FC defeated Kaki Bukit SC 3-2 in a dramatic final day to clinch the Singapore Football League 2 (SFL 2) title by just 1 point. Going into the final day of the season, Tengah held a slender 1-point lead over closest challengers Jungfrau Punggol FC.
The stage was set for a riveting end to the SFL 2 season. Jungfrau had to beat Bishan Barx FC at Yishun Stadium to stand a chance of taking the crown. Over at Bukit Gombak Stadium, destiny was in Tengah’s hands. A win over Kaki Bukit SC and the title would be theirs.
Jungfrau were pushed to the limit by Bishan Barx. It needed a last-minute Amirul Walid goal to beat BBFC 3-2. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as Tengah came away 3-2 victors over Kaki Bukit. Farihin Farkhan, Roy Tan and Ghanisheelan got their names on the scoresheet on an historic day for the club.
The title victory marks another huge milestone in the club’s journey. Tengah have achieved back-to-back promotions. From the Island Wide League in 2023 to SFL 2 this year, the club can now look forward to the new challenge of SFL 1 next season.
The current SFL 1 campaign will conclude this Sunday with a similarly tight title race. Three teams are still in contention for the title. Singapore Khalsa Association lead the standings with 29 points. Singapore Cricket Club are 2 points behind in second place and Yishun Sentek Mariners sit in third place with 26 points.
