SINGAPORE, 25 SEPTEMBER 2024 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is excited to announce the upcoming Talent Identification (Talent ID) Level 1 and Level 2 Courses, set to take place this November.
The courses offer insights into the principles and practices of identifying and nurturing football talent. Whether you are looking to upgrade your football expertise or even just starting out, this is an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge to contribute to the football landscape here in Singapore.
Both courses will be held at the FAS headquarters. Individual evenings and days may be carried out elsewhere if necessary. The teaching methods involve a mix of presentations delivered by an instructor, group discussions, plenary debates, and live/video scouting.
FAS Talent ID – Level 1 Course
The Talent ID (Level 1) course is aimed at scouts, future scouts, coaches, and talent developers who work to evaluate players, primarily in youth football. This applies to both evaluation of the club’s players and scouting of external players to potentially recruit later.
The aim of the Talent ID (Level 1) course is to give the attending talent-scouts an insight into the basics of talent identification and to train the talent-scouts to identify and scout talented players at academy level.
The content includes the following topics:

What is a talent?
-
Performance and potential
-
Live scouting and/or video scouting
-
A model for reporting on individual players
-
Introduction to common football and scouting language
-
Safeguarding, FAS guidelines and rules for scouting and recruitment
The Talent ID (Level 1) course is conducted on the following days:
The course will last a total of 12 teaching hours. The talent-scout will be asked to come prepared, as FAS will send materials to read, prior to the start of the Talent ID (Level 1) course.
Admission to the Talent ID (Level 1) course does not require any form of coaching license but requires the participants to be curious and have a passion for talent identification and talent spotting.
The introductory price of the Talent ID (Level 1) course is set at SGD$395.00. Participants will receive a course T-shirt along with a scouting book. There are only 24 available places, which will be selected based on their respective football coaching and playing experiences.

FAS Talent ID – Level 2 Course
The Talent ID (Level 2) course is aimed at scouts, future scouts, coaches, and talent developers who work to evaluate players, primarily in youth football. This applies to both evaluation of the club’s players and scouting of external players to potentially recruit later.
The aim of the Talent ID (Level 2) course is to give the attending scouts an insight into scouting, screening, identification, and recruitment and to train the scouts attending to identify talented players at academy level in a structured way.
The content includes the following topics:

Who am I as a scout and where do I want to go?

Models for reporting on individual players and a deeper dive in to Top 3

Grading in numbers, letters and with comments (common football language)

Live and video scouting
-
Performance and potential
-
The relative age effect (RAE)
-
Bias in connection with talent identification (prejudice/bias)
The Talent ID (Level 2) course is conducted on the following days:
The course will last a total of 16 teaching hours. The talent-scout will be asked to come prepared, as FAS will send materials to read, prior to the start of the Talent ID (Level 2) course.
Admission to the Talent ID (Level 2) course requires participants to have already gone through the Talent ID (Level 1) course previously.
The introductory price of Talent ID (Level 2) course is set at SGD$495.00. Participants will receive a course T-shirt along with a scouting book. There are only 24 available places, which will be selected based on their respective football coaching and playing experiences.
