A royal tale of romance and legend unfolds in full bloom as Rose Romance returns to Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome—this year with a majestic British twist. Presented in collaboration with the British High Commission in Singapore, the floral showcase commemorates 60 years of Singapore–United Kingdom diplomatic relations with a breathtaking reimagination of the legend of King Arthur, set against a landscape of over 15,000 roses from 65 varieties, including four making their debut.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, and Second Minister for Finance and National Development Ms Indranee Rajah launched Rose Romance in Flower Dome today. She was joined by (from left) British High Commissioner to Singapore His Excellency Nik Mehta; Gardens by the Bay Board Director Mr Sam Liew; and Gardens by the Bay CEO Mr Felix Loh.

Running from 27 June to 20 July 2025, the enchanting display transforms the Flower Dome into a medieval dreamscape, where visitors can wander through a castle-village inspired by Caernarfon Castle in Wales, the real-life structure said to have inspired Camelot. Fans of the Arthurian legend can pose beside the Round Table, gaze upon the mythical sword in the stone, and explore settings steeped in love, honour, and heroism.

Blossoms of Myth and Memory

Four rose varieties make their first appearance at Gardens by the Bay:

  • Rosa ‘Amadeus’ – A climbing rose with bold red blooms and a hint of fragrance
  • Rosa ‘Bianco’ – A charming patio rose with delicate white pompon flowers
  • Rosa ‘Marchenzauber’ – Known as Fairytale Magic, this soft pink rose enchants with a fruity, apricot-scented aroma
  • Rosa ‘Violette Parfumée’ – An award-winning violet-mauve beauty prized for its sweet, spiced scent

Other standout varieties include the sultry Rosa ‘Deep Love’, with its velvety crimson petals, and Rosa ‘Duchess of Cornwall’, a tribute to King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s union.

Enhancing the rose-filled landscape are seasonal blooms like asters, delphiniums, pelargoniums, salvias, and even wild strawberries—lovingly cultivated by Gardens by the Bay’s own horticulturists.

A Journey Through British Heritage

The exhibition extends beyond floral beauty to showcase British culture and history. Explore a Tudor-style house symbolising the Wars of the Roses, where red and white roses came together in unity as the Tudor Rose. Marvel at a Georgian-style mansion façade, a nod to London’s historic architecture.

Adding authenticity are suits of knight’s armour and a sword loaned from the British Club in Singapore, on public display for the first time. The display also includes traditional Welsh love spoons, handcrafted tokens of affection contributed by UK-based horticulture partner Andrew Collings.

Classic British icons like the red telephone box and double-decker bus complete this immersive tribute, evoking nostalgia and national pride.

A Royal Musical Touch

The Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines Portsmouth graced the opening ceremony with a stirring performance, and will return for a special marching showcase on Sunday, 29 June at 2pm, from Supertree Grove to the Flower Dome.
