POP MART is bringing its beloved SKULLPANDA universe to Singapore for the first time, and in a big way. In partnership with the National Museum of Singapore and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), the brand will present the SKULLPANDA CAGE-UNCAGE Showcase, an immersive exhibition that delves deep into the artistic narrative of the cult-favourite collectible.

Making its international debut after a successful run in Shanghai, the showcase will be open to the public from 12 December 2025 to 22 February 2026 at the National Museum of Singapore.

A First-of-Its-Kind Collaboration

This marks the first SKULLPANDA showcase ever held in Singapore and the first tripartite collaboration between POP MART, STB, and the National Museum. The partnership highlights contemporary collectible design as a powerful artistic medium, while further strengthening Singapore’s appeal as a destination for innovative, culture-driven experiences.

Exclusive to the Singapore edition is a brand-new installation inspired by the island’s unique bird-singing tradition, adding a distinctly local flavour to the exhibition.

From Collectibles to Contemporary Art

Created in 2018 by Chinese artist Xiong Miao, SKULLPANDA began as a deeply personal character, a reflection of the creator’s curiosities, uncertainties, and inner world. The CAGE-UNCAGE Showcase builds on that vision, transforming SKULLPANDA into a portal for art, introspection, and storytelling.

Drawing from Xiong Miao’s background in game concept design, the exhibition uses collectibles to explore six universal life themes: Emotion, Fortune, Rules, Exploration, Life, and Direction.

Visitors can expect:

  • Larger-than-life sculptures and installations
  • Multi-sensory environments
  • Interactive spaces where symbols like keys, locks, and door frames spark reflection on freedom, choice, and identity

Pop Culture Meets Heritage

The showcase continues the National Museum’s efforts to engage younger and more diverse audiences through pop culture, following the success of its 2024 Play:Date exhibition.

A co-curated installation inspired by Singapore’s bird singing pastime pays homage to a cherished local hobby, introducing international visitors to a lesser-known but meaningful facet of the nation’s heritage. Much like collectible culture, it celebrates community, passion, and shared experiences.
