SINGAPORE: Six men, aged between 22 and 41, were charged on 23 May for offences related to child sexual exploitation.
The men were arrested in separate incidents between 2023 and 2025, according to a police statement issued on 22 May.
The arrests were made by officers from the specialised crime branch of the Criminal Investigation Department.
The men face charges including engaging minors for sex and possessing child sexual abuse material.
Kok Chuan Yuan, 37, is facing two charges of commercial sex with a person under 18.
Court documents state that he allegedly offered a 12-year-old girl S$50 for sexual services in November 2024.
He allegedly kissed her body and touched her over her shorts.
According to the police, he had befriended the girl online before performing the sexual acts on her.
Aloysius Lim Jia En, 25, is charged with eight counts of sexual penetration of a minor under 16.
He allegedly contacted the girl online and arranged for commercial sex on at least three occasions in a flat between November and December 2023.
George Lee Ji Qiang, 22, faces one charge of possessing child abuse material and one charge of possessing obscene films.
Police allege he had at least 100 films containing child sexual abuse material, along with 55 obscene films, stored on his mobile phone.
Meanwhile, three other individuals—Hairil Fitri Hairulsahfudin, 30, Michael Li Qing’An, 41, and Tan Jia Jun, 35—each face one charge of possessing child abuse material.
Investigations suggest that each man had at least 100 pieces of child abuse material stored on their devices.
The six men were granted bail ranging from S$15,000 to S$20,000.
Under Singapore law, those convicted of engaging in commercial sex with a person under 18 may face up to seven years in prison, along with fines.
Those convicted of possessing child abuse material can be jailed for up to five years, fined, and caned.
