Tanjong Katong Road South between Mountbatten Road and East Coast Parkway (ECP) will remain closed until further notice for urgent repairs.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) confirmed the closure on 26 July 2025 after a sinkhole opened the previous day.
In a Facebook post, LTA said it is working with national water agency PUB and the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) to oversee repairs and ensure safety.
A section of the road collapsed next to a PUB worksite near the junction with Mountbatten Road at about 5pm.
The collapse caused a car to plunge into the water-filled sinkhole.
A video posted by Thelocalsociety showed migrant workers pulling a woman to safety.
Other workers directed traffic and set up cones and barriers to close the road.
Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed it was alerted to the incident at about 5:50pm. One person was conveyed to Raffles Hospital for treatment.
Bus services 36 and 48 will be diverted. Both directions will skip the bus stops along the closed road.
Westbound services will also skip stops outside One Amber condominium, Amber Garden, Parkway Parade and Blocks 72 and 74 Marine Parade Road.
LTA has advised motorists and commuters to plan ahead and expect possible delays.
Preliminary checks by BCA show surrounding buildings are unaffected, while PUB has isolated the affected water mains.
Nearby residents have raised concerns about the safety of their homes and surrounding roads.
Goh Pei Ming and Gho Sze Kee, Members of Parliament for Marine Parade–Braddell Heights GRC, said authorities are prioritising the safety and stability of the area.
