SINGAPORE: Mr Shahrin Abdol Salam, CEO of Singapore Post’s local operations, has resigned, according to reports by local media on 3 February 2025.
His resignation comes after serving in the position for less than a year.
Mr Shahrin assumed the role on 1 May 2024, succeeding Ms Neo Su Yin, who had left the firm at the time to join dnata as managing director for Singapore. However, Ms Neo, who recently returned to SingPost as group chief operating officer, will now take on additional responsibilities as Singapore CEO.
A SingPost spokesperson confirmed the resignation, stating that Mr Shahrin left “to pursue opportunities outside the company.” The company is currently working with Ms Neo on the transition. “Su Yin is familiar with the Singapore business unit, having run the business from November 2021 until May 2024,” said the spokesperson.
SingPost expressed gratitude for Mr Shahrin’s contributions, with the spokesperson adding, “We thank Shahrin for his contribution to SingPost during his time and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Mr Shahrin’s departure coincides with significant leadership disruptions within SingPost, following the termination of three top executives in December 2024.
Former group CEO Vincent Phang, group chief financial officer Vincent Yik, and international business unit chief Li Yu were dismissed after mishandling internal investigations prompted by a whistle-blower’s report.
The report, related to the company’s non-regulated international e-commerce logistics parcels business, led to an internal investigation. The investigation found that three managers within the international business unit had committed serious code of conduct violations by manually altering parcel “delivery failure” statuses without proper documentation or evidence of actual delivery attempts.
The controversy resulted in the termination of Mr Phang, Mr Yik, and Mr Yu. All three are currently contesting their dismissals.
Despite Mr Shahrin’s resignation occurring during this turbulent period, The Straits Times understands that his decision is unrelated to the whistle-blower investigation. His resignation was tendered on the morning of 3 February 2025.
SingPost recently appointed Mr Isaac Mah as its new group CFO on 22 January 2025. Mr Mah previously served as CFO of SingPost’s Australia-based Freight Management Holdings.
Before joining SingPost, Mr Shahrin held key roles, including managing director of SMRT’s Thomson-East Coast Line and senior vice-president of strategic relations at SMRT Corporation. His professional background spans more than 25 years, covering operations management, strategic planning, and asset management.
Mr Shahrin also maintains a strong presence in public service. As an active grassroots leader in West Coast GRC, he was awarded the Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (Public Service Medal) in 2019.
