The Singapore Writers Festival (SWF) 2025 is bringing the art of storytelling to unexpected places: the MRT platforms. Organised by Arts House Limited (AHL) and commissioned by the National Arts Council (NAC), this year’s Festival introduces Stories Across Generations, a nationwide writing and community initiative presented in collaboration with SMRT Trains.

Celebrating the power of connection and conversation between young and old, Stories Across Generations invites participants to capture cherished coming-of-age memories and reflections from their seniors, intimate tales of family, resilience, and everyday life in Singapore. The collected stories will be featured on the Festival’s website, where the public can vote for their favourites. The top three winning entries will each receive a luxury staycation at Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree, while voters also stand to win exciting vouchers.
The collaboration between SWF and SMRT Trains was officially launched at Bras Basah MRT station, graced by Mr. Baey Yam Keng, Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth and for Transport.
From now until 19 November 2025, commuters can experience these heartfelt narratives showcased across selected MRT stations, including a special installation at Bras Basah MRT. Each display transforms the commute into a moment of reflection, an invitation to pause and appreciate the stories that connect generations, especially meaningful as Singapore celebrates SG60.
