SINGAPORE, 30 AUGUST 2025 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) today confirmed the 23-man squad that will represent the nation at the upcoming Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers, to be held from 3 to 9 September 2025 in Phu Tho, Vietnam.
This squad is one of the youngest in recent years, with an average age of just 20. Notably, it includes three 17-year-olds – Harith Danish, Luth Harith and Rae Peh – who have impressed during preparations and earned their place in what has been a highly competitive selection process.
The trio join several players who have already made their mark both domestically and abroad. Amongst them are seasoned Singapore Premier League (SPL) campaigners Amir Syafiz and Andrew Aw, both of whom have already amassed more than 50 appearances at the top level. Hougang United forward Louka Tan-Vaissiere also stands out, having claimed last season’s SPL Under-21 Golden Boot with an impressive tally of 28 goals.
The squad is further bolstered by overseas-based players Jonan Tan, Muhammad Asis, and Khairin Nadim, who currently ply their trade with Portuguese club FC Vizela.
Head Coach Firdaus Kassim expressed his satisfaction with the team’s development during preparations, highlighting the positive strides made over the past weeks.
“The boys have really grown and gelled as a team over the course of our preparations. We have worked hard to build resilience within the squad, and I am encouraged by the progress they have made,” said Firdaus.
“My demands are very clear – for them to be competitive in every single action.”
Looking ahead to the campaign, he added: “If we can consistently demonstrate that on the pitch, I believe this team can show our supporters the kind of football they can be proud of.”
Singapore has been drawn into Group C of the Qualifiers, alongside Bangladesh, hosts Vietnam, and Yemen. The team will open their campaign against Yemen on 3 September at 5pm (all times in SGT), before facing Vietnam on 6 September at 8pm and concluding their campaign against Bangladesh on 9 September at 5pm. All matches will be played at the Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho province.
Fans will be able to follow the team’s journey closely, with all matches streamed live on Mediacorp’s meWATCH platform as well as the Vietnam Football Federation’s official YouTube channel.
