According to SMRT, the fault occurred during the morning peak period, prompting alternative travel advisories and free bridging services.

In a series of posts on the social media platform X at 8.40am and 8.50am, SMRT advised passengers heading to Marina Bay to transfer to the North-South Line via Dhoby Ghaut or Bishan, or to use the Thomson-East Coast Line from Caldecott.

Commuters travelling towards Bayfront station were guided to transfer via Promenade or MacPherson stations to access the Downtown Line.

Free regular bus services were activated between Promenade and Marina Bay and announced at 8.52am. These ceased once full train service resumed, as confirmed in SMRT’s update at 9.17am.

In a follow-up Facebook post around 9am, SMRT apologised for the inconvenience and advised passengers to approach station staff for further assistance.

SMRT Trains president Lam Sheau Kai issued an apology at 9.18am via Facebook, stating: “We apologise for the disruption during the morning peak commute and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.”

This was the first reported service disruption on the Circle Line since 20 May 2025.

On 29 July, there were commuter reports of overcrowded conditions during peak hours at multiple Circle Line stations, though no official incident was acknowledged by the operator at that time.
