The Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA), an alternative party in Singapore, has announced it will sell its general election posters to raise funds for students, following its defeat in the 3 May 2025 polls.

On 6 May, SDA chairman Desmond Lim shared in a Facebook post that despite the loss, the party remains committed to serving Pasir Ris–Changi residents and Singaporeans.

Lim stated, “Though SDA has lost in GE2025, the party has never lost our heart to continue to serve the residents of Pasir Ris–Changi and fellow Singaporeans.”

The SDA contested Pasir Ris–Changi GRC against the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) but was defeated.

The PAP secured 67.66 per cent of the vote, with SDA garnering 32.34 per cent.

According to the Elections Department, the PAP team led by Indranee Rajah won 60,887 votes, while SDA obtained 29,109 votes.

A total of 89,996 valid votes were cast in the constituency, which has 100,639 registered voters.

The PAP slate included Indranee Rajah, Desmond Tan, Sharael Taha, and Valerie Lee.

The SDA team comprised Desmond Lim, Abu Mohamed, Harminder Pal Singh, and Chia Yun Kai.

SDA has a long history of contesting the Pasir Ris–Punggol area since 2006 but has yet to secure a seat.

In the 2020 General Election, the PAP won the constituency with 64.16 per cent of the vote, SDA received 23.67 per cent, and People’s Voice lost its deposit.

Lim announced that the SDA’s 2025 election posters are available for S$20 each and can be collected during office hours at SDA headquarters, located at 218-F, Changi Road, Level 4, PKMS Building, Singapore 419737.

Interested members of the public can approach Hairullah or Mesina at the office. For those preferring delivery, an additional S$10 fee will arrange a Grab delivery.

Lim also offered to personally deliver posters to Pasir Ris–Changi residents who make a purchase.

To reserve posters, buyers can email their orders to sdageoffice@gmail.com, indicating the number of posters they wish to purchase. Pictures of the various poster designs were included in Lim’s Facebook post.

Proceeds from the sales will be fully donated to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, which supports students from low-income families.

This is not the first time the SDA has sold its campaign posters. After the 2020 general election, the party also offered posters for sale, allowing buyers to pay any amount they wished.

The SDA’s posters are known for their creative graphics rather than candidate images, attracting attention and sparking discussions online and on forums regarding their effectiveness.

Pasir Ris–Changi GRC was formed by merging parts of the now-defunct Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC with adjacent districts from East Coast GRC. The area has remained a PAP stronghold despite repeated challenges by alternative parties.

Moving forward, Lim reaffirmed the party’s dedication to its supporters and the residents of Pasir Ris–Changi, promising continued engagement and community work.
