Balestier continue hot streak with dominant win over Tanjong Pagar
Tanjong Pagar 0-4 Balestier | Choa Chu Kang Stadium | 1 March
(Ariel Isabelle 4’, Svea Hertzman 17’, 53’, Sharifah Nur Amanina 18’)
Balestier Khalsa continued on their recent run of good form with a third consecutive win over Tanjong Pagar United in a rescheduled Women’s Premier League (WPL) fixture originally slated for 13 March. The result lifts Balestier two places up the table into third — a significant improvement for a side that had spent the previous two seasons near the bottom of the standings.
Balestier found the breakthrough just four minutes into the game when captain Sharifah Nur Amanina delivered a cross for Svea Hertzman. Hertzman’s effort struck the post and the rebound fell kindly to Ariel, who finished into an open net for her first goal of the season. Hertzman then got on the scoresheet herself in the 17th minute with a powerful strike to double Balestier’s advantage.
Sharifah Nur Amanina later capped off the scoring in style with a stunning long-range effort from some 40 yards out. Hertzman then got her second in the 53rd minute — her third goal of the campaign — after meeting a cross from Balestier defender Yumi Ng to seal a confident win.

Balestier Khalsa’s three-game winning streak in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) came to an end on Tuesday night (10 March) in their second outing of the matchweek, falling 5–0 to Still Aerion, who moved up to third place in the nine-team standings.
Aerion opened the scoring in the 18th minute following a Nicole Lim corner. The ball was met in the box before Reneelyn Sison reacted quickest to flick it past the Balestier goalkeeper for her first goal of the season.
While Balestier managed to fend off Aerion attacks early on, Aerion eventually settled into a rhythm and added four more goals in the second half. Nicole Lim, who had already registered an assist for Aerion’s opener, got on the scoresheet herself in the 53rd minute with a composed low finish into the bottom corner.
A costly mistake from Balestier goalkeeper Arda Nur Qaisara then allowed Aerion forward Isabella Edwards to score in the 71st minute, as the ball slipped through and rolled into the net. Just three minutes later, Thai midfielder Sunisa Srangthaisong added Aerion’s fourth with a calm finish after receiving a pass in the Balestier box.
Aerion completed the rout in stoppage time when forward Andrea Moska reacted quickest to a loose ball from a corner in a crowded penalty area, scoring two minutes into added time to seal the emphatic victory.

BG Tampines edge Tiong Bahru in tight contest

(Lim Li Xian 16’, Nurzaherra Maisarah 52’ | Nahwah Aidilereza 20’ (P), Victoria Hudson 45’+2, Darvina Halini 85’)
BG Tampines returned to winning ways after three consecutive losses in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) with a narrow victory over Tiong Bahru on Wednesday (11 March).
Tiong Bahru started brightly, with forward Lim Li Xian capitalising on a mistake by BG Tampines’ forward Sharifah Amira. In the 16th minute, Lim intercepted a loose pass intended for BG Tampines’ goalkeeper Haziqah Haszman and slotted home to open the scoring.
BG Tampines responded soon after. A foul by Lim Li Xian on BG Tampines’ Nahwah Aidilreza resulted in a penalty, which the 19-year-old forward calmly converted herself to level the scores in the 20th minute.
The match remained evenly poised until two minutes into first-half stoppage time, when BG Tampines’ top scorer Victoria Hudson produced a determined run down the right flank before applying the finish for her fourth goal of the season – and put BG Tampines 2-1 ahead.
Tiong Bahru pulled level again in the 52nd minute when midfielder Nurzaherra Maisarah collected the ball from deep, surged forward and slid her effort past Haziqah in the BG Tampines goal.
Both sides continued to threaten, with both goalkeepers called into action, but it was BG Tampines who found the decisive breakthrough. In the 85th minute, captain Darvina Halini reacted quickest in a crowded penalty area following a corner to score the match-winning goal.
