When the folks at KOORUI reached out and asked if I would like to test and review their new flagship gaming monitor, the 34-inch KOORUI G3441VC, I will admit I was intrigued.

The brand itself is a new entrant to the Singapore market, having just set up shop here in July. It was brought in by Oxymen Global, a tech distribution company, first establied in 2011. They informed me that KOORUI is a fast-growing brand focused on delivering high-quality, affordable monitors, and after unboxing this unit, it is clear their strategy is to offer serious specs for a surprisingly low price.

Priced at just $499, this ultrawide curved monitor promises a lot. My son Asher has been using it for several weeks now to see if it delivers and so far, we find it to be satisfactory. Right out of the box, the value proposition is undeniable.

For a monitor this size, with a 3440×1440 WQHD resolution, a 180Hz refresh rate, and a 1000R curved VA panel, $499 is extremely competitive. Just a year or two ago, a setup like this would have cost nearly twice as much.

The design is sleek and minimalist, with impressively thin bezels that make the display feel even more immersive. The stand was a breeze to assemble. It just snaps into place in a few steps and feels surprisingly sturdy on Asher’s desk, with no noticeable wobble.

Plugging it in, it delivers on what it promises.

The colours pop with a vibrancy, whether Asher was playing an online game or doing his schoolwork on the web browser. The VA panel provides solid deep blacks, which makes night scenes in games or movies feel truly dark, not grey and washed out. Switching from his old 27-inch flat monitor to this ultrawide curved display felt like upgrading from economy to business class for Asher; the extra horizontal space is a breather for both productivity and immersion.

Additionally, the 180Hz refresh rate enables you to move windows around smoothly. Built for gaming, the higher frame rate allows for motion to be fluid and responsive.

A minor complain is that the power button is too well hidden that it took a while to locate it the first time. After that, it was easy to navigate from there to the e-menu on screen to customise the various settings of the monitor.

Overall, the KOORUI G3441VC is a resounding yes for value. While it is a lesser know and newer brand (which means that it is still hard to tell on the product lifespan at this stage), what you get in return is a stunning, large, and decently fluid gaming canvas.

More information is available on their official website, including details on their other monitor offerings, ranging from as low as $139 for an entry level monitor to $2,999 for their highest end 49-inch OLED monitor.
