A new wave of marine discovery is set to make a splash in Singapore as Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) unveils the Singapore Oceanarium, opening to the public on 23 July 2025. Evolved from the former S.E.A. Aquarium, this world-class marine institute marks a bold transformation—expanding its footprint and deepening its mission to inspire ocean conservation through immersive education, research, and storytelling.

A Dive into 22 Immersive Zones Across Space and Time
Three times larger than its predecessor, Singapore Oceanarium reimagines the ocean journey with 22 themed zones that guide visitors from curiosity to commitment. Spanning shallow coastal habitats to the deep sea—and even back through prehistoric oceans—each zone offers a captivating blend of marine science, awe, and innovation.

Highlights include:
- Ocean Wonders: One of the world’s largest kreisel tanks, home to thousands of moon jellies.
- Singapore’s Coast: A mangrove-inspired environment spotlighting native biodiversity.
- Ancient Waters & Conquering Land: Life-sized prehistoric creatures and living fossils tell the story of ocean evolution.
- Migrators & Open Ocean: Vibrant marine life including Reef Manta Rays and Zebra Sharks, seen through a 36-metre-wide panoramic viewing panel.
- Whale Fall & Sea Mount: A life-sized recreation of a deep-sea whale fall ecosystem.
- Hallway of Hope: Stories of successful marine conservation initiatives from around the world.
Education, Exploration, and Engagement
Designed with learning at its core, the oceanarium integrates multi-sensory storytelling and immersive digital displays, encouraging all ages to connect deeply with marine life and the challenges our oceans face.
Returning from the Maritime Experiential Museum is the Jewel of Muscat, a replica ninth-century Arabian dhow, showcased in the Spirit of Exploration zone. Above it, Pier Adventure offers a thrilling suspended web walk with elevated views. For a break, the Explorer’s Nook café provides pastries, light bites, and marine-inspired keepsakes.
Before leaving, visitors can explore the Singapore Oceanarium Store, a marine-themed retail space offering sustainably made apparel, books, and lifestyle items, including limited-edition drops from local brands.
From Aquarium to Global Ocean Institute
Accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and a member of both WAZA and SEAZA, the Singapore Oceanarium is positioned as a regional hub for marine research and conservation. It has partnered with leading academic institutions including:
- A five-year applied research programme with the National University of Singapore
- A two-year climate resilience collaboration with the Earth Observatory of Singapore at NTU
Adjacent to the main attraction is the Research and Learning Centre, a Green Mark Platinum Zero Energy building powered by solar energy. With labs, seminar rooms, collaborative spaces, and a rooftop event area, the centre enhances both public education and scientific research capabilities.
Coming Soon
Set to open 23 July 2025, the Singapore Oceanarium promises to be a transformative destination where education, entertainment, and conservation meet. Programme details and ticket information will be revealed in the coming weeks.
