Jeffrey Khoo will stand as the Progress Singapore Party’s (PSP) candidate for Marymount Single Member Constituency (SMC) in the 14th General Election on 3 May, 2025.
The announcement was made during a PSP media event on 17 April at Bishan North Shopping Centre, where Khoo told journalists, “The party has asked me to come here to serve as the candidate for Marymount.”
Khoo, 56, was seen walking the ground in Marymount on 12 April with PSP secretary-general Leong Mun Wai.
That day, PSP also confirmed its intention to contest Kebun Baru, Marymount, and Pioneer SMCs, along with West Coast–Jurong West and Chua Chu Kang Group Representation Constituencies (GRCs).
With these constituencies, the party is expected to field a total of 12 candidates.
Khoo previously contested in the 2020 General Election as part of PSP’s team in West Coast GRC. The PAP team, led by then Transport Minister S Iswaran, retained the five-member ward with 51.69 per cent of the vote.
It was the closest contest of that election, and it enabled PSP to secure two Non-Constituency Member of Parliament (NCMP) seats for Leong and party vice-chairperson Hazel Poa.
Between 2023 and 2025, Khoo served as PSP’s Deputy Organising Secretary on its Central Executive Committee.
The ward was previously contested by PSP’s Ang Yong Guan, who lost to PAP’s Gan Siow Huang in 2020. Gan won with 55.04 per cent of the vote.
Acknowledging Dr Ang’s prior involvement, Khoo said the party had “a lot of friends” in Marymount due to past engagements. “We understand the place well,” he noted, though he added that deeper roots would require time and further outreach.
Professionally, Khoo is the CEO of a regional risk consulting firm and has held leadership roles in various multinational companies over the years.
He completed his early education at Anglo-Chinese School and National Junior College before graduating from the National University of Singapore. He has also been involved with the National University of Singapore Society (NUSS), holding leadership positions there for over 15 years.
Khoo is married with three children.
Outside his professional and political work, Khoo is also musically inclined. He won a Xinyao singing competition in 1987 and took part in the 2025 edition of the popular Chinese TV singing contest 黄金年华之斗歌竞艺 (Golden Age Talentime).
Sharing his aspirations for Singapore, Khoo stated: “I hope that Singapore will be a fairer place that can better balance the needs of workers and businesses, and where our nation’s financial resources can be better used to support Singaporeans, especially the vulnerable, in meeting their life challenges.”
Khoo also addressed the possibility of a three-cornered fight in Marymount. The People’s Alliance for Reform (PAR) has indicated its interest in contesting the ward.
When asked about talks to avoid such a scenario, Khoo said PSP was engaging in discussions with PAR and expressed optimism. “I think it will pan out well,” he said.
With the General Election set for 3 May, PSP continues to ramp up its presence across several constituencies in an effort to build on its 2020 momentum.
