With polling for the Singapore General Election (GE2025) scheduled for 3 May 2025, political parties have opened registration for volunteers interested in serving as polling and counting agents. These roles are critical to ensuring a transparent electoral process.
To be eligible, individuals must register with a political party, have their form signed by an official election agent, and take a statutory oath of secrecy. These conditions apply across all parties, as required under Singapore’s election laws.
The Workers’ Party (WP) is contesting in Aljunied GRC, Sengkang GRC, Punggol GRC, Tampines GRC, Tampines Changkat SMC, Jalan Kayu SMC, and Hougang SMC. Volunteers can register via their official website at wp.sg/volunteer.
The Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) is fielding candidates in Marsiling Yew Tee GRC, Sembawang GRC, Sembawang West SMC, and Bukit Panjang SMC. Registration is conducted in person at WCEGA Tower, 21 Bukit Batok Crescent, #29-84, Singapore 658065. Operating hours are from 5pm to 9pm on 30 April, and from 11am to 9pm on 1 and 2 May.
The Progress Singapore Party (PSP) will contest West Coast-Jurong East GRC, Chua Chu Kang GRC, Pioneer SMC, Marymount SMC, Kebun Baru SMC, and Bukit Gombak SMC. Interested individuals can register online at ourpsp.glueup.com.
Red Dot United is contesting in multiple areas, including Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC, Jurong Central SMC, Nee Soon GRC, and Holland-Bukit Timah GRC. They have issued separate sign-up links for each constituency:
The People’s Alliance for Reform will contest in Tanjong Bahru GRC, Jalan Besar GRC, Potong Pasir SMC, Queenstown SMC, Radin Mas SMC, Yio Chu Kang SMC, and Kebun Baru SMC. Their registration form is available at this link.
The People’s Power Party (PPP) is contesting Ang Mo Kio GRC and Tampines GRC. Volunteers can register via their Google form.
The Singapore People’s Party (SPP) is contesting Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC and Potong Pasir SMC. Although they are not actively seeking agents, registration is still possible through this form.
The National Solidarity Party (NSP) will contest Sembawang GRC and Tampines GRC. Like SPP, they are not currently campaigning for polling/counting agents but accept volunteer registrations via nsp.sg/volunteer.
The Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) is fielding candidates in Pasir Ris–Changi GRC. Individuals wishing to register as counting agents must do so in person at 218 Changi Road, PKMS Building, between 4pm and 6pm on 30 April. Contact persons include Jamal at 94526855 or 93882400.
Lastly, the Singapore United Party (SUP), contesting Ang Mo Kio GRC, is collecting registrations via this online form.
All aspiring agents are advised to ensure that they complete the required procedures, including obtaining an election agent’s endorsement and completing the oath of secrecy, well ahead of polling day. Failure to do so will render their appointment invalid under the Parliamentary Elections Act.
Polling agents play a critical role, particularly at the close of polling, when they must be present to witness the sealing of the ballot boxes and sign off to confirm that the process has been conducted in accordance with electoral procedures.
Their presence ensures transparency and accountability in the handling of ballots. Equally, if not more important, are counting agents, who are tasked with observing the entire counting process.
This includes verifying the handling, sorting, and tallying of ballot slips, ensuring that each vote is accurately recorded and that the final results reflect the voters’ intentions. Their role is essential in upholding public confidence in the integrity of the election outcome.
This report does not include details for the People’s Action Party (PAP). It is widely recognised that PAP has extensive resources and well-established networks to mobilise its polling and counting agents. As such, public recruitment efforts for these roles are typically less visible compared to opposition parties.
