Palau de la Música Catalana

Box 1

This exquisite building in the trendy Sant Pere district isn’t just a concert hall – it’s a visual tribute to the world’s greatest composers. It was created by modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner between 1905 and 1908. A marvel of Catalan Art Nouveau style, the UNESCO-listed landmark’s façade is a trompe d’oeil adorned with rich mosaic floral pillars. Inside, the mystical concert hall is dominated by an organ and central skyline, and lined with busts of major composers like Beethoven, Bach and Wagner. Tours are available all day, and if you’re lucky, you’ll catch aspiring musicians in rehearsal.
