SINGAPORE: A fire incident at Block 194 Kim Keat Avenue on 14 July 2025 led to the hospitalisation of one person and the evacuation of about 60 residents.
According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), it received an alert at about 11:50am.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that a bedroom in a 12th-floor unit was ablaze.
Videos shared by netizens showed thick black smoke and visible flames coming from the affected unit.
SCDF officers entered the smoke-filled unit and put out the fire using a water jet.
Three residents from the unit had already evacuated before SCDF arrived.
Police officers assisted in evacuating about 60 people from the block as a precautionary measure.
Two people from the affected unit were assessed for smoke inhalation. One was taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
The other declined further medical attention.
SCDF stated that the rest of the unit and the corridor outside suffered heat and smoke damage.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire likely started from an electrical source in the bedroom.
SCDF reminded the public not to overload electrical outlets or leave appliances switched on unnecessarily.
It also advised residents to check wires, avoid running them under carpets, and ensure all plugs bear the approved Safety Mark.
Residents are urged not to leave devices charging unattended for long periods, especially overnight, to prevent similar incidents.
