SINGAPORE: A nine-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being hit by a car at the junction of Moulmein Road and Sinaran Drive on 23 July.
The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were alerted at about 2pm.
The boy, who was conscious when paramedics arrived, was conveyed to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
A 72-year-old male driver is assisting the police with investigations.
According to a dashcam video uploaded to Facebook, the unaccompanied boy was seen standing on a road divider before attempting to cross the street, even though a pedestrian bridge was visible to his left.
The footage shows the boy slowing briefly as he looks towards oncoming traffic from his right, with a car approaching.
Moments later, he suddenly sprints across the road without checking for vehicles coming from the left.
He appears to hesitate for a second after noticing the approaching car but continues to cross.
The boy is then struck by the car and falls to the ground.
The car comes to a stop after hitting him, and the video shows the boy getting up as the driver steps out of the vehicle.
