SINGAPORE, 28 APRIL 2025 – Mr Forrest Li has been elected as the new President of the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) for the 2025–2029 term, following the conclusion of the FAS Extraordinary Congress held earlier this evening at the Raffles Town Club.
The Chairman of Lion City Sailors and founder of tech conglomerate, Sea Group, was elected unopposed on a slate basis with the Team One line-up in accordance with the provisions of the FAS Constitution.
“Becoming your FAS Council President today is a responsibility I do not take lightly. As Council, our team’s primary mission is to bring that joy and pride back to Singapore football,” said Mr Li. “I believe we can do a lot to raise the standard of the sport, and bring positive energy back to Singapore football.
“As your Council, we will focus on building up the fundamentals of a healthy football ecosystem, in five areas: infrastructure, youth development, partnerships, league competitiveness, and administrative effectiveness.
“We have four years together to try to do things differently, and achieve what many think is impossible: revitalising Singapore football. We can do it.”
Mr Desmond Ong, Chairman of BG Tampines Rovers and a lawyer, will serve as Deputy President. The Vice-Presidents are Mr Bill Ng, founder of Financial Frontiers and Chairman of Hougang United and Tiong Bahru FC; Mr Hariss Harun, Captain of the Singapore Men’s National Team; Mr Tan Li Yu, General Manager of Lion City Sailors; and Mr Sean Bai, Chief of Staff at English Championship side, Burnley Football Club.

Ms Yeong Sheau Shyan, Head of Women’s Football at Lion City Sailors, was elected unopposed on an individual basis in accordance with Article 35.1 of the FAS Constitution, which states that the FAS council must consist of at least one female member.
