With both sides separated by just three points in the Women’s Premier League standings, Balestier Khalsa head into their Matchweek 6 clash with Still Aerion looking to maintain their third-placed position. The Tigresses come into the fixture on a strong run of form, having won their last three matches — a promising sign for the young side, who spent the previous two seasons near the bottom of the table and are currently enjoying their highest position in the competition so far.

Still Aerion, meanwhile, return to league action after a two-week break since their dominant 7-0 victory over Hougang United on 20 February, a result that highlighted their attacking threat.

Youth has been a defining feature for both teams this season: Balestier’s teen forwards Svea Hertzman, Hannah Teo and 17-year-old captain Sharifah Nur Amanina have each found the net in at least two of the last three matches. For Still Aerion, 18-year-old forward Anna Seng starred in their last outing with four goals and now leads the side’s scoring charts with five this season, while 15-year-old Isabella Edwards also impressed with a brace.

With Balestier sitting third on nine points and Still Aerion close behind in fourth on six, valuable points are on the line in what promises to be a closely fought contest at Bukit Gombak Stadium.

Tiong Bahru and BG Tampines look to halt losing run in WPL clash

Wednesday, 11 March | 7.45pm | Choa Chu Kang Stadium

Nurzaherra Maisarah in a match.

Tiong Bahru and BG Tampines Rovers will both be eager to turn the tide when they meet this Wednesday, 11 March at Choa Chu Kang Stadium, with the two sides looking to bounce back from recent defeats and move away from the bottom half of the table.

Tiong Bahru come into the fixture on the back of a narrow loss to Tanjong Pagar United on 22 February, a performance that showed encouraging moments despite the result. BG Tampines Rovers, meanwhile, will hope to build on signs of improvement after responding to a heavy defeat against the Lion City Sailors with a more resilient display against Albirex Jurong, though they ultimately fell 5–0 to the defending champions’ clinical finishing on 21 February.

Victoria Hudson (in yellow jersey) in a match.

Both sides will also be looking for a stronger attacking push: BG Tampines’ forward Victoria Hudson currently leads the team’s scoring charts with three goals, while players such as Nurzaherra Maisarah, Lim Li Xian, and captain Joey Cheng — who has contributed one goal and two assists this season — will be key as they look to create more chances in front of goal.

With both teams returning from a two-week break, the clash offers a timely opportunity to regroup and push for valuable points.
