New-look Tampines brace for Eastern derby

Geylang International are set to face BG Tampines Rovers at Choa Chu Kang Stadium on Friday night as the two Eastern sides meet for the first time this season, with both teams looking to build consistency after their opening matches.
Geylang will take confidence from last season’s head-to-head record, having secured victories in both league meetings, with midfielder Nasriah Ibrahim contributing four goals and two assists across the two fixtures.

However, BG Tampines have shown that they are a different side this year. Currently third in the standings, the Stags made a strong opening statement through 16-year-old debutant Victoria Hudson, who scored twice in her first appearance. With Geylang sitting just one place behind in fourth, the outcome of this fixture could influence early positioning in the top half of the table.

Still Aerion take on Albirex Jurong at Choa Chu Kang Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the current league leaders look to extend their strong start to the season. 2025 WPL champions Albirex, who moved past their title rivals Lion City Sailors on goal difference following last week’s 17-0 win over Balestier Khalsa, will be focused on maintaining their top position.
Their free-scoring form has been led by the Japanese trio of player-coach Kana Kitahara, Ruriko Takashima and Manami Fukuzawa – each with seven goals – and the White Swans are expected to continue pressing in attack.

Still Aerion, who finished second last season, are not to be underestimated. While they lost both head-to-head meetings against Albirex last year, this season has seen Aerion come out battling.
After narrowly losing to the Sailors last week, they aim to return to winning form and challenge for a higher position in the standings. The team showed resilience in that match, with goalkeeper Hazel Lim producing key saves and attackers such as Nicole Lim and Sunisa Srangthaisong acting as attacking outlets.

Tanjong Pagar United are set to face title contenders Lion City Sailors at Choa Chu Kang Stadium on Saturday evening as both sides approach the fixture with contrasting objectives. The Sailors will be targeting maximum points as they look to close the goal-difference gap at the top of the standings to Albirex Jurong, while Tanjong Pagar search for their first points of the season.

On paper, the Sailors appear to have the upper hand, having won both league meetings against Tanjong Pagar last season and carrying attacking momentum into the current campaign. Their frontline features players such as Ami Kawase, Ami Takeuchi, and Farah Nurzahirah, who have been in good form.
Tanjong Pagar, however, have shown moments of resilience in their opening matches, led by captain Nuriah Noor and goalkeeper Batrisyia Ilya. While the availability of defender Abigail Goh, a consistent presence in the backline, remains uncertain, the Jaguars will need to maximise every opportunity as they look to challenge one of the league’s strongest attacking sides.

Balestier Khalsa face Tiong Bahru at Choa Chu Kang Stadium on Sunday evening in a fixture that could prove important for both teams as they look to improve their early-season standings. Tiong Bahru come into the match after a positive opening performance – a 1-1 draw against Hougang – and will take confidence from their strong head-to-head record against Balestier from last season.
In their first outing of the campaign, Tiong Bahru showed promise and attacking intent, with key contributions from players such as forward Lim Li Xian, midfielder Nurzaherra Maisarah and goalkeeper Larissa Ortmann. The team will be looking to take advantage of opportunities in front of goal and convert them to improve their standing this season.
