A man died and another was injured following a dispute between two neighbours at a public housing block in Yishun on 19 July 2025.
The incident occurred at Block 334B Yishun Street 31, with police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) alerted to the scene at about 5.20pm.
According to the Singapore Police Force, officers found a 53-year-old man injured inside his flat when they arrived.
Meanwhile, a 44-year-old man was discovered lying motionless at the foot of the same block and was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the two men, both residents of the block, had been involved in a dispute along the corridor shortly before the incident unfolded.
Police said that during the altercation, the 44-year-old man allegedly used a knife to injure the 53-year-old man.
Photographs from the scene show a blue police tent erected on a grass patch on the first floor of the block. Police tape was seen cordoning off the area as officers conducted on-site investigations.
The 53-year-old man, who sustained abdominal injuries, was conscious when he was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
Singapore’s Chinese-language daily, Lianhe Zaobao, reported that a female resident on the fourth floor said she heard a loud noise and subsequently saw an elderly man with apparent injuries when she looked out of her flat.
The police stated that, based on preliminary investigations, foul play is not suspected in the case.
They added that investigations are ongoing and further details will be disclosed when available. Residents reported that police vehicles stayed parked at the block well into the night.
No further information about the identities of the men or the specific cause of death for the 44-year-old individual has been released at this stage.
