SINGAPORE: Singaporeans can now go green thanks to the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) latest campaign, Hello Kitty’s Move Lite Adventure. Running from Nov 1 to 21, the campaign invites everyone to take small but meaningful steps towards a more sustainable lifestyle by walking, running, or taking public transport. They can do this all while collecting coins, badges, and exclusive Hello Kitty merchandise.
It’s part of LTA’s ongoing Move Lite movement, which encourages Singaporeans to travel “lighter” for a greener and healthier city. However, this time, the message comes wrapped in Hello Kitty’s signature charm; this campaign helps turn the idea of sustainability into something fun, relatable, and worth sharing with friends and family.
Move more, earn rewards, and meet Hello Kitty along the way
There are plenty of ways to join in the fun. Through the Hello Kitty’s Move Lite Adventure website, participants can now take part in games and other activities that reward them for making greener travel choices.
- Daily Quest: Answer one transport-related question each day and earn coins for every correct answer.
- Virtual Run/Walk Challenge: Clock up to 50 km by running or walking at your own pace, earning coins as you go. Finish 3 km and you’ll even receive an exclusive Hello Kitty e-certificate, which is so perfect for bragging rights!
- Digital Stamp Rally (Nov 7 to 21): Visit 15 MRT stations to collect special Hello Kitty digital stamps.
The campaign ends with a finale event at One Holland Village from Nov 21 to 23 (12 p.m. to 8 p.m.). Expect Hello Kitty photo booths, a physical stamp rally, and the chance to redeem exclusive merch you’ve earned along the way.
Hello Kitty rides the MRT too
If you’re a regular commuter, keep your eyes peeled! Hello Kitty-themed trains are now running across the North East Line, Downtown Line, and Thomson-East Coast Line until Nov 23.
These adorable trains, wrapped in cheerful pinks and pastels, are meant to brighten up daily journeys and remind commuters that travelling green can be fun. From Oct 28 to Nov 9, you can also take part in LTA’s social media contest by snapping selfies with the Hello Kitty trains or station decorations for a chance to win exclusive medals.
And here’s another treat: commuters who sign up for a SimplyGo account and complete at least 15 public transport trips during the campaign can redeem a limited-edition Hello Kitty Move Lite EZ-Link card at the finale event.
Why this matters to Singaporeans
Beyond the cute designs and collectibles, this campaign carries a deeper message, one that’s relevant to all of us.
In a fast-paced city like Singapore, it’s easy to take convenience for granted. Many of us hop into a car or grab ride-hailing services without thinking much about it. But small choices, like walking to the MRT instead of driving, or taking the bus instead of booking a ride, can make a huge difference for the environment and for our own well-being.
LTA’s Hello Kitty campaign is a gentle reminder that sustainability doesn’t have to be boring. It can be something light-hearted and social, even something the whole family can enjoy! By turning daily, mundane commutes into little acts of good, all of us are helping to build a cleaner, calmer, and more connected Singapore.
At the end of the day, moving lite isn’t just about how we travel, but it’s also about how we live our lives.
