SINGAPORE, 7 FEBRUARY 2026 – The Singapore Men’s National Football Team will return to international action in March, facing European opposition – the Faroe islands – in a preparation game in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) before their final match of the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 qualifiers against Bangladesh at the National Stadium.
Centralised training for the Lions will begin on Wednesday, 18 March 2026 with foreign-based players linking up with the rest of the team in Dubai for a training camp when the FIFA window opens on 23 March.
Gavin Lee’s Lions will take on Faroe Islands at Dubai’s Shabab Al Ahli Stadium on Thursday, 26 March. The match against the archipelago nation that has a FIFA ranking of 125 – 22 spots higher than the Lions – will be Singapore’s first senior international match against a UEFA member since the 2012 2-2 draw with Azerbaijan in Dubai. The Faroe Islands match will kick off at 9pm, Singapore time (SGT).

“Playing a team like the Faroe Islands allows us to be challenged by strong opposition. Finishing third with 12 points – behind Croatia and Czechia – in Group L of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers campaign reflects the level they are competing at,” said the Lions Head Coach.
“This kind of test keeps us grounded, challenges our standards, and helps us prepare for the demands of the Asian Cup in 2027.”
The Lions will then return to home soil to face Bangladesh in what will be the final match of their AFC Asian Cup qualifying campaign at the National Stadium. With qualification already secured after the 18 November 2025 win over Hong Kong, China, the Bangladesh match serves as a homecoming moment to honour the Lions’ qualifying journey with Singaporeans at the National Stadium.
Singapore fans can expect unique entertainment offerings, lucky draws, and fan engagement initiatives in and around the game.

Ticketing details for the match against Bangladesh will be announced soon. For first access to information, exclusive deals and ticket promotions, Singapore fans should sign up for the FAS waitlist on Ticketek.
“The match against Bangladesh is just as important – we want to finish the campaign with momentum, both in performance and results,” said Lee.
“Playing at home gives us an extra lift, and we hope our fans will come out in force to support the team every step of the way.”
