SINGAPORE, 19 OCTOBER 2024 –The Singapore Women’s National Team will face Laos and Timor-Leste in Group A of the 2024 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Women’s Cup this November. The tournament draw was finalised earlier today.
The Women’s Cup is a newly introduced qualifying tournament for the ASEAN Women’s Championship that was formerly known as the AFF Women’s Championship.
This, 13th edition of the tournament, will be held in Vientiane, Laos, from 23 November to 5 December 2024.
For the first time, the tournament will serve as a qualifying round, featuring six teams divided into two groups. Each group will play in a round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals. A third-place play-off and final will follow, and the top three teams will qualify for the ASEAN Women’s Championship next year.
The team will be making their tenth appearance at the regional tournament. The Lionesses’ last win at the tournament came in the 2022 edition, with goals from Izzati Rosni and Syazwani Ruzi securing a 2-0 triumph over Indonesia in the final match of that campaign.
