A large pipe fell off a trailer on Balestier Road on Friday morning, 21 March 2025, blocking multiple lanes and causing a traffic jam.
According to the police, the accident occurred at about 9am in the direction of Thomson Road.
Preliminary findings suggest that the trailer skidded, leading to the pipe falling off. No injuries were reported.
Former politician and journalist Jose Raymond shared photos and videos of the incident on Facebook.
The images show traffic police at the scene alongside a worker dressed in orange, believed to be the trailer driver.
Photos depict the trailer blocking two out of three lanes, with the large pipe partially on the sidewalk. By 9.30am, one lane towards Pegu Road had reopened, while the other two remained blocked.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed that it was alerted at around 9.05am but stated that its assistance was not required.
The 31-year-old trailer driver is assisting with police investigations. Under the Road Traffic Act, failing to secure a load properly is an offence.
