Frozen potato giant Lamb Weston is celebrating its 75th anniversary by making its first retail entry into Southeast Asia, launching its signature range of fries exclusively in Singapore.
Starting this month, you can get your hands on the brand’s restaurant quality fries at home, available only at FairPrice, FairPrice Xtra, and FairPrice Finest outlets.
Founded in 1950 by Gilbert Lamb in Weston, Pacific Northwest of the United States, Lamb Weston has grown into a world leading frozen potato company and a trusted partner for restaurants globally. The company is known for its continuous innovation over the decades, which includes inventing the water gun knife for cutting potatoes in the 1960s, and pioneering its proprietary Stealth batter coating.
The new retail range introduces four distinct fry styles to the Singapore market. These are: Original Fries, a classic skin on cut for an authentic potato flavour; Grill Fries, bold crinkle grooves seasoned with salt and pepper for a crunchy exterior; Ziggy Fries, a signature zig zag cut with deep ridges for maximum crispiness; and Potato Dippers, unique scoop shaped fries perfect for sharing.
A key to their quality is Lamb Weston’s exclusive Stealth batter. This invisible coating is an innovative feature that locks in crispiness for up to twice as long as regular fries, whether they are cooked in an oven or an air fryer. In catering to diverse dietary needs, all products in the launch are Halal certified, vegan, and gluten free.
Beyond product innovation, the company is focused on sustainability. The new retail packs are 20% thinner than previous packaging and incorporate at least 60% bio renewable polyethylene derived from used cooking oil. This reduces their carbon footprint by around 30% compared to conventional packaging. This initiative supports Lamb Weston’s global targets to halve food waste and cut carbon emissions by 25% by 2033.
To celebrate the debut, the fries are available for a limited time at a special introductory price of S$6.15, down from the usual price of S$6.65, at FairPrice stores across Singapore. Shoppers can also look out for weekend sampling roadshows at select FairPrice locations starting from 22 November. Customers who purchase any two packs in a single transaction during these events can redeem a free Lamb Weston Fry Clip Fridge Magnet, a fun food sealer.
