Behind the shophouse’s white, nondescript facade sits a restlessly shifting art space that reflects the diversity of voices in the community. Located on Kim Yam Road, just steps from the buzzy New Bahru, its inaugural exhibition is Indigenous Power (Ancestral Wisdom), the first solo presentation in Southeast Asia by Japanese and Puerto Rican (Taino) artist Puppies Puppies (Jade Guanaro Kuriki-Olivo). Her installations, featuring earth, offerings, stones, and natural sounds, channel the spiritual and shamanistic traditions of her Taino island heritage, inviting a multi-sensory engagement of the artwork.
