Since revolutionising photography in 1925 with the Leica I, the world’s first series-produced 35mm camera, Leica has continued to push boundaries while preserving its hallmark values of design, craftsmanship, and precision “Made in Germany.” The M-Series has embodied these qualities for over 70 years, evolving from the analog M6 to digital innovations such as the M11 Monochrom, M11-D, and M11-P.

The Leica M EV1 continues this legacy by answering a long-standing request from Leica enthusiasts: a true M-Camera that integrates an EVF without compromising on the iconic M experience.

Precision Meets Modern Technology

The 5.76-megapixel high-resolution EVF offers exceptional image clarity and natural color rendering, showing photographers exactly what their shot will look like in real time. Exposure data such as shutter speed, ISO, and aperture can be displayed seamlessly, while an eye sensor automatically switches between the viewfinder and touch display.

Focusing is made effortless with Focus Peaking and Focus Zoom: allowing precise, real-time adjustments. The front lever, traditionally used for previewing bright-line frames on rangefinder models, can now be assigned to focus assists or digital zoom (1.3× or 1.8×), offering photographers fast and flexible control.

Built on the Power of the Leica M11

At its core, the M EV1 inherits the acclaimed full-frame BSI-CMOS sensor with Triple Resolution Technology from the Leica M11. It captures stunning detail and color fidelity at resolutions of 60, 36, or 18 megapixels, with image processing powered by the Maestro III chip. Files can be stored in DNG or JPEG format on the 64GB internal memory or an SD card.

Connectivity is seamless with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cable, allowing easy pairing with the Leica FOTOS App for efficient image transfer, even in the background using Bluetooth Low Energy. The camera also supports Content Credentials Technology from the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), ensuring every image carries a verifiable, tamper-proof digital signature.

Timeless Design, Modern Feel

Handcrafted in Germany, the Leica M EV1 embodies the timeless elegance of the M-System with a modern edge. Its diamond-patterned leatherette and minimalist front design set it apart as a refined yet forward-looking addition to the M family.

The Leica M EV1 will be available worldwide from 23 October 2025 at Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store, and authorised dealers.
