SINGAPORE: Residents have spoken warmly of Workers’ Party (WP) Member of Parliament (MP) Gerald Giam, sharing personal stories of how he supported them during difficult times.
In an interview with Bluebird SG following a recent WP rally, one resident recounted how Giam’s assistance helped him turn his life around after losing everything.
“I am living in a decent house because of Gerald Giam from the Workers’ Party,” he said.
“I was sleeping on the road after my mother and father passed away. My sister cheated us of our money. I had nowhere to go.”
Desperate and with few options, he sought help from Gerald Giam.
He explained that Giam took the time to guide him through the necessary procedures, including contacting the Ministry of Manpower.
Giam also helped him obtain his IC and ensure everything was sorted out.
“Because of the Workers’ Party, I am living a decent life today,” he said.
The resident expressed deep gratitude.
“I told them I would serve them until I die. I’ve never seen any MP do this in my life. He is the best.”
A female beside the resident also highlighted Giam’s personal kindness.
“He got him a phone and a phone number,” she shared.
The resident added that Giam went even further, buying him a walking stick and helping him secure a mobile phone and SIM card.
“Do you believe an MP would buy you a handphone? Do you believe he would use his own IC to get a SIM card for you? The Workers’ Party has done this for me,” he said.
WP MP Gerald Giam, who has represented Aljunied GRC since 2020, will be contesting the constituency once again in the upcoming 2025 General Election.
He will be standing alongside WP chief Pritam Singh, Sylvia Lim, Fadli Fawzi, and Kenneth Tiong.
