Huawei has officially unveiled the HUAWEI MatePad 12 X (2025) at its Innovative Product Launch in Paris on 19 September 2025, positioning the latest tablet as a powerful all-in-one tool for work, learning and creative expression. Equipped with an upgraded ultra-clear PaperMatte Display, the new HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro and a robust suite of productivity and creative apps, the MatePad 12 X is set to redefine what users can expect from a modern tablet experience.

At the launch event, Huawei also announced the GoPaint Worldwide Creating Activity 2025, a global initiative aimed at inspiring digital creators to fully explore the creative potential of the MatePad 12 X.
Ultra-clear PaperMatte Display for Enhanced Comfort and Clarity
The HUAWEI MatePad 12 X PaperMatte Edition introduces an enhanced ultra-clear PaperMatte Display, powered by high-precision nanoscale etching technology. This innovation reduces screen glare by up to 50 per cent compared to the previous generation, delivering a clearer, more comfortable viewing experience that is easier on the eyes. As a long-time pioneer in anti-glare display technology, Huawei continues to push PaperMatte as a benchmark for digital reading and creative workflows on tablets.

Complementing the display is a sleek all-metal unibody design that measures just 5.9mm thin and weighs only 555g. Finished with an elegant e-coating pearlescent sheen, the tablet balances premium aesthetics with a smooth, comfortable feel. Performance is further enhanced by a flagship-level 3D heat dissipation architecture, delivering a 27 per cent boost in overall performance over its predecessor. Users can also tap into a versatile software ecosystem, including laptop-level WPS and Wondershare Filmora for productivity and content creation.
Elevated Writing and Artistry with HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro
The creative experience is taken up a notch with the introduction of the HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro. Designed for seamless interaction, the stylus allows users to access an in-app radial menu with a simple pinch, offering quick access to brushes, colour palettes and tools. A dedicated quick button launches HUAWEI Notes instantly, while a rotate gesture enables realistic brush strokes in the GoPaint app.

The stylus comes with three interchangeable tips tailored for standard writing, small-font precision and painting. With 16,384 levels of pressure sensitivity, the M-Pencil Pro delivers lifelike strokes that bring handwriting, sketches and illustrations to life.
GoPaint Worldwide Creating Activity 2025 Expands with New Category
To mark the launch, Huawei announced the return of its annual GoPaint Worldwide Creating Activity. This year’s competition features four familiar categories: Narrative Art, Digital Watercolour & Ink, Sci-Fi Art and Cutting-edge Painting; alongside a newly introduced Animation category. Participants can submit their works via the HW Community platform or Huawei’s official website, with 20 regional winners selected in the first round.
