Gardens by the Bay is celebrating a decade of cherry blossoms in the tropics with its biggest and most diverse Sakura display yet, featuring a record 440 cherry blossom trees spanning 48 varieties. Running until 6 April 2025, this year’s milestone edition offers a breathtaking floral spectacle alongside Japanese-themed events, cultural showcases, and the highly anticipated Anime Garden.
A Spectacular Display of Cherry Blossoms
For the first time, visitors can witness the rare Japanese weeping cherry, Prunus yedoensis Yoshino Shidare, known for its elegant cascading branches, and the Japanese Hill Cherry, Prunus lannesiana Kawazu-zakura, distinguished by its deep pink hues. Longtime favorite Prunus Accolade, with its abundant pale pink blooms, also makes a return.
A Tribute to Fukuoka’s Rich Heritage
This year’s display, presented in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Singapore, pays homage to Fukuoka Prefecture, blending tradition with modern artistry. A recreation of Kokura Castle stands amid the blossoms, accompanied by 130 handcrafted bamboo lanterns from Kitakyushu’s Takeakari Bamboo Lantern Festival, illuminating the yozakura (night sakura) experience. The centrepiece of this evening spectacle is the 5.6m-tall Phantom Castle, a striking light installation inspired by Fukuoka’s legendary lost castle tower.
Visitors can also admire traditional Fukuoka craft items on loan from Japan, including Hakata and Tsuyazaki dolls, Kokura textiles, and Magoji kites.
Free Cultural Experiences and Anime Garden
Adding to the festivities, Gardens by the Bay is hosting an array of free Japanese cultural activities. The Anime Garden, happening on 8 and 9 March at Supertree Grove, will feature anisong concerts, celebrity cosplayers, festival games, and more. Visitors can also enjoy tea ceremony demonstrations in Flower Dome on 15-16 March and 22-23 March.

In celebration of SG60, Gardens by the Bay has introduced the SG60 Wonder Blooms Pass, offering Singapore residents unlimited access to six floral displays in 2025—including Sakura, Tulipmania, and Orchid Extravaganza—at a special rate of $22 (over 60% off).
