French Fold, a concept by Merci Marcel Group that specialises in crêpes and galettes, has opened its third outlet at Great World mall. Clad in natural wood, warm terracotta and Italian blue tiles by Marazzi, the casual restaurant exudes a coastal Gallic ease. The rustic food, made with premium ingredients such as organic buckwheat flour from Brittany and artisanal cheeses from Maison Beillevaire, is largely the same across outlets, but there are a few exclusive items. Here, it’s the grilled pork sausage wrapped in a buckwheat crêpe with Comté cheese and caramelized onions, a take on the popular street food Galette-Saucisse.
Look out for the ‘galette of the month’ too – the wild trout with leek fondue was a winner. If you’re after something more localised, there’s even a chilli crab galette. For dessert, it’s hard to go wrong with the poached pear with 70% Valrohna chocolate crêpe topped with whipped cream. Simple yet satisfying.
