White Swans climb to fourth

Tanjong Pagar 1-2 Albirex | Jurong East | 21 February

Box 4

Timur Talipov pen. 61’ | Matthew Silva O.G. 26′, Shuhei Hoshino 90+2′

Hoshino’s speculative shot from outside the area took an unlucky ricochet off Matthew Silva before going in to give Albirex the lead, before Tanjong Pagar restored parity through Talipov from the spot. Daniel Henrique 8′, Dejan Račić 34′, Farhan Zulkifli 71′ | Danish Qayyum 6′, Amir Syafiz 23′, 43′

Qayyum popped up in the box to put Young Lions ahead, but Henrique rose the highest to nod home Tajeli Salamat’s teasing cross for an instant Hougang leveller. Amir’s close-range finish was then cancelled out once again by Račić’s header off Shahdan Sulaiman’s corner, before Amir struck again with a crisp shot from outside the area to put Young Lions back ahead. However, Hougang would rescue a point in the second half with Farhan tapping home Stjepan Plazonja’s low cross.

There was no way back for Balestier once Thy nodded the Sailors ahead early on. Lestienne added a second with a cool finish inside Hafiz Ahmad’s near post, before Balestier was reduced to 10 men due to Fudhil I’yadh’s sending off.
