A fire broke out at around 12:50 pm today on the rooftop of a multistorey carpark located at 6001, Beach Road, leading to the evacuation of 45 people from the premises. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the incident and promptly dispatched teams to the scene.

The fire, which involved multiple cars parked on the rooftop, was extinguished by SCDF personnel using two water jets. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, though three individuals were assessed for smoke inhalation. These individuals declined to be sent to the hospital.

Preliminary findings by the SCDF indicate that the cars involved in the fire were not electric vehicles. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Fire investigators were present at the carpark on level six as late as 4 pm, with police stating that the level had not yet been cleared. Tenants from levels one to five were allowed back into the building at around 3:45 pm.

However, some flooding was observed in the basement, with water dripping from the ceiling on level two, according to a Channel NewsAsia (CNA) reporter at the scene.

Indie cinema The Projector, located on level five of the building, announced on Instagram that all afternoon shows had been canceled, with full refunds to be issued to affected patrons. The cinema later extended the cancellation to evening shows as well.

Videos circulating on social media show more than a dozen vehicles, which appear to be of the same make, engulfed in flames on an upper floor of the carpark. The situation is currently under further assessment by authorities.
