FËI ZAP MÂI LÄAN has officially landed in Singapore, opening its very first local outlet at VivoCity. This also marks the brand’s first store outside of China. With over 80 outlets across China and more than 10 million bowls served annually, the Hong Kong rice noodle specialist is no stranger to long queues and loyal diners.

The flavours here are rooted in heritage recipes that date back over 60 years. The founder personally travelled to Hong Kong to learn the craft, and that influence carries through clearly, both in the food and the space. With a slogan of “汤浓、霸道、浇头多” (rich broth, bold flavours, endless toppings), the brand focuses on slow-cooked broths, springy rice noodles and a nostalgic dining experience.

The VivoCity outlet is designed to feel like a slice of old Hong Kong. The store leans into a nostalgic Hong Kong look, where diners are seated at white tiled tables, while red street-sign panels, calligraphy, and photos of old Hong Kong streets add warmth and character.

For first-timers or anyone preferring fuss-free options, the Signature Bowls are a good starting point. You can also adjust the spice and sourness levels to suit your taste. The Mighty Four Bowl, priced at $13.90, combines fish roe balls, ham, wuxiang, and tender char siew, paired with bean sprouts, coriander, and silky rice noodles. The highlight is the Signature Zhajiang Broth, richer and thicker than usual, with minced meat, pickled mustard greens and a gentle smoky aroma blended into a deeply simmered bone broth.

Other options include the Pickled Punch Beef Bowl at $15.90, which has a tangy, mildly spicy kick, with tender sliced beef, beef tendon balls, tau pok and black fungus layered over rice noodles. The Tomato Chop Bowl, priced at $16.90, offers a gentler, comforting flavour, pairing a sunny side up egg with marinated fried pork chop, vegetables, diced tomatoes and macaroni. For those looking for something nourishing, the Supreme Twin Fish Bowl, also $16.90, combines fried and sliced fish with black fungus, crabstick, radish and bean sprouts over rice noodles, served in a milky-white but clean-tasting fish broth.

Diners can also build their own bowl from over 30 toppings. Lighter options like tau pok, bean curd skin, seaweed and braised egg start at $0.99, while mid-range additions such as radish, luncheon meat, fish roe balls or cheese-filled seafood balls cost $1.99. Heartier toppings like handmade shrimp paste, pork belly, braised pork intestine, sliced beef, beef tripe and char siew go for $2.99.

Each table also has access to a free-flow condiments station stocked with chilli padi, signature sauces, vinegar and other seasonings, allowing diners to adjust heat, acidity and savouriness gradually as they eat. From 19 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, with any signature bowl, diners can add up to six toppings at just $0.99 each.

To complement the bowls, FËI ZAP MÂI LÄAN offers sides like Crispy Fish Skin, HK Fried Pork Chop, Fried Wontons, Curry Fishballs, Assorted Curry Delights and Braised Wings, all easy to share or enjoy on their own.

Desserts lean towards classic Hong Kong favourites, and one pleasant surprise was the Herbal Jelly with Coconut Milk. Sweetened with honey, the herbal jelly is smooth and not too bitter, while the coconut milk adds a light creaminess that balances everything out nicely.

Other desserts include double-skin milk pudding, black sesame paste, mango pomelo sago, and the Crackle Eggette. There are also delicious toast options, like condensed milk and peanut butter toast or Hong Kong-style French toast.

After all that rich, savoury broth, a refreshing drink is essential. The Iced Salty Lemon 7-Up is a crowd favourite, made with preserved lemons cured for weeks for a sharp, tangy kick that cuts through the richness of the noodles. The Hong Kong-style Milk Tea is smooth and comforting, perfect to sip alongside your bowl. Other refreshing options like Yuan Yang, Ovaltine, coffee, and barley water also help to wash everything down nicely.
