Cyclist injured by bullet in Central Catchment Nature Reserve during army live-firing exercise

SINGAPORE: A man suffered a gunshot wound on 15 June 2025 while cycling in a forested area near a Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) live-firing range.

Police were alerted to the incident by the National University Hospital (NUH) at about 11.55pm.

MINDEF confirmed the man entered a gazetted SAF live-firing area between Upper Seletar and Upper Peirce reservoirs.

A live-firing activity was being conducted at Nee Soon 500m Range, approximately 2.3km from the site.

The bullet slug was lodged in the man’s lower back. He remains in stable condition after surgery.

Live-firing at the range has been suspended as a precaution.

MINDEF and SAF are cooperating with police to investigate the incident.

They emphasised that unauthorised entry into gazetted firing zones, under the Military Manoeuvres Act, is prohibited for safety reasons.
