Our late Lee Kuan Yew had made this important point of resisting Western “Decadent Culture and Values” influence as we are an Asian society. He has even promoted Confucianism as a defense against Western Cultural influences.
Of course, he resisted the Western Democratic Principles most as this is in direct conflict to his “benign authoritarian” rule.
He was definitely not a defender of Human Rights as he had used detention without trial under ISA to deal with his political opponents.
I bet he must be also aware of the LGBTQ Agenda in the early 2000s. Did he support it? I seriously doubt so.
PAP has indeed changed, quite drastically, from the days of LKY. Is it changing for the better or ye worse?
LKY was never a “Populist” but rather a leader who upheld his values, rightfully or wrongfully, and he would try his very best to convince Singaporeans that his Core Values would serve Singapore best.
But the same cannot be said of the current PAP’s leadership.
We have to nib this problem in the bud and should make this with full clarity that Singapore as a small Asian country, we should not subject ourselves to “social cultural experiment” which may create an upheaval in cultural war that will be an unnecessary distraction and detrimental to our Nation building.
From this perspective, I am adament in preventing the LGBTQ Agenda from seeding and growing within our boundaries. Laws should protect our country from such adverse impact, not to open us up to such potential harm.
PAP has gone astray on a broken track. We must fix this with an overhaul.
