Whether you are a movie lover or just a fan All things FrenchOh, my God! The French Film Festival returns this year from November 14-30. Shown by Shaw Theatres, The Projector and Alliance Francaise, this year's festival is extra special – it's the 40th anniversary! This is your chance to watch a total of 36 films, including recent box office hits and timeless classics that have shaped the face of French cinema.
The films cover a wide range of genres, from blockbusters and funny comedies to thrilling adventure tales and wholesome stories. Student discounts apply to shows at Shaw Theaters and The Projector. Deals at Alliance Francaise are priced at S$16 (non-members) and S$14.50 (members).
This year's headliner is “The Count of Monte Cristo”, which has been described as one of the most expensive French films of all time and has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is based on Alex Dumas's book of the same name, and follows the adventures of the unjustly imprisoned Edmond Dantès, who escapes, makes a fortune, and returns as the mysterious “Count of Monte Cristo” to take revenge on him.

Miracles (2024): A mesmerizing exploration of the bond of brothers as they pursue their musical dreams, even in the face of a serious illness that could destroy their dreams. It stars Camille Razat, who played Camille in the Netflix series “Emily in Paris.”
Saint Exupéry (2024): Follows the life and adventures of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, author of The Little Prince, as he searches for his aviator friend who went missing in the Andes.

The projector will show some famous films that have left an indelible mark on French cinema, including:
Purple back (1960): Charming Tom Ripley is sent to Italy to retrieve a wealthy heir, but lured by wealth and a luxurious lifestyle, he descends into deception and murder to seize the man's identity.
Emily (2001): A fan favorite, Amélie is the intimate story of a quirky young woman in Paris who embarks on a strange quest to bring joy to those around her while discovering love and adventure along the way.
400 strokes (1959): The story of a misunderstood young boy in Paris who, suffering from neglect and societal expectations, turns to petty crime and rebellion in his search for freedom and belonging.

The festival will conclude with a special screening of the film “Spirit World” (November 30, 4pm at Show Lido) by Singaporean director Eric Kho. The film revolves around a singer who suddenly dies while on tour in Japan, but her spirit lives on and begins a journey to find humanity in the other world. This French-Singaporean co-production stars legendary French actress Catherine Deneuve, alongside Japanese actors Masaaki Sakai and Yutaka Takenouchi.
