Air New Zealand has unveiled its striking new uniform collection, a vivid tribute to the cultural heritage, artistry, and creative spirit of Aotearoa. Designed by internationally renowned New Zealand-born fashion designer Emilia Wickstead, the collection features bespoke hand-painted prints by tā moko artist Te Rangitu Netana—uniting traditional storytelling with modern elegance.

Set to be worn by 6,000 Air New Zealand team members worldwide, the collection ushers in a new era of identity and pride for the airline, reflecting both the legacy of its iconic uniforms and the forward-thinking vision of its future. Each piece is a canvas for cultural expression, blending contemporary tailoring with deep symbolism.

Among the standout pieces is The Fine Print – Dress, showcasing the kōwhai print inspired by Māori heritage and the legend of Ngatoro-i-Rangi. The Collective Thread – Shirt offers a versatile unisex design adorned with purapura whetū patterns, allowing both cabin crew and ground staff to wear their identity with pride.

Inclusivity is woven into the collection’s very fabric, with The Woven One – Ie Faitaga—a garment steeped in Pasifika heritage—being trialled by Pacific team members. The new pilot uniform introduces a pinstripe suit lined with Kiwi feather motifs, symbolising leadership, mana, and distinction.

Other key pieces include The Wrap Around – Trench, a sleek violet pinstripe coat ensuring comfort and cohesion across roles, and The Runway Cut – Waistcoat, tailored to empower male crew and staff with a bold presence.

Air New Zealand Chief Executive Greg Foran described the collection as a true representation of the airline’s values and the spirit of New Zealand. Wickstead, who described the project as a dream come true, partnered with Te Rangitu to infuse each design with meaning, artistry, and cultural integrity.

The uniform will be trialled onboard beginning May 2025, with feedback shaping its final rollout across the airline’s global network in 2026.
