adidas Originals and avant-garde fashion house Avavav are back with their third collaborative collection, and it may be their boldest, most imaginative drop to date. Led by Creative Director Beate Skonare Karlsson, the partnership continues to push the boundaries of what a sportswear collaboration can be, blending high-concept artistry with adidas’ iconic design DNA.

Rather than simply reworking classics, this season introduces entirely new silhouettes that challenge perceptions of sportswear. The collaboration reflects Avavav’s signature mix of exaggeration, contradiction, and wit, offering a fresh take on adidas pieces through a distinctly conceptual lens.
A Sculptural, Playful Approach to Apparel
The apparel collection transforms archival influences into exaggerated, expressive forms. Track tops swing between loose, slouchy fits and second-skin layers. A cropped puffer becomes a cartoonish statement piece, while trompe-l’oeil baselayers mimic body paint, referencing the painted-on Beckenbauer tops worn at Avavav’s SS25 runway, where the collaboration was first teased.

Other standout pieces include ballooned-out shorts, T-shirts reimagined with hoods, and accessories turned into wearable sculptures. Expect caps sliced at sharp angles and bags with dramatic, structural shapes.

The footwear lineup continues the transformation. The Modified Superstar keeps its sculptural sole and iconic toe cap, now wrapped in a vacuum-formed one-piece leather upper that embosses the Three Stripes directly into the material. Available in two distressed colorways, the design feels both nostalgic and futuristic.

The Moonrubber Megaride amplifies its oversized bubble outsole with reflective accents and new color explorations, including a warped, cosmic boot variant. The show-stealing addition? The Luge Heel: a surreal, 22-centimeter spike inspired by adidas’ performance luge footwear, reinterpreted purely as sculptural fashion.
A Campaign That Blends Sport, Art, and Fantasy
Shot by acclaimed Hungarian photographer Szilveszter Mako, the campaign pairs raw physicality with surreal, painterly visuals. His imagery underscores the collaboration’s artistic intent, presenting adidas Originals by Avavav as a playful counterpoint to performance wear: expressive, ironic, and designed “for everyone else.”
Global Launch Details
