Hasney Aljofree has concluded his tenure as Head of Coach Education and Development at the Football Association of Singapore (FAS), bringing to a close a period focused on strengthening the foundations of coach education in Singapore.

Since joining FAS in August 2024, Hasney played a key role in providing strategic leadership across the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of the national coach education pathway. His work ensured alignment with the Association’s broader vision, as well as AFC and FIFA competency frameworks, while remaining firmly grounded in the local football context.

Reflecting on his time in Singapore, Hasney described his tenure as both meaningful and rewarding.

“It has been a real privilege to work alongside so many dedicated, passionate, and hardworking people. I am genuinely grateful for the openness, professionalism, and shared commitment to developing football in Singapore that I have experienced during my time here,” said Hasney in a message sent to partners before his departure.

“I leave Singapore with fond memories, strong friendships, and great respect for the people who make FAS what it is.

“I wish everyone and the organisation every success moving forward, and I have no doubt that Singapore football will continue to progress and grow,” he added.

A central focus of Hasney’s tenure was the design, implementation and review of Singapore’s national coach education framework. Under his leadership, greater consistency, quality assurance and learner-centred principles were embedded across all licence levels.

He also oversaw the establishment of a dedicated Coach Education and Development department, with an emphasis on capacity building, professional development and sustainable workforce planning.

A strong advocate for high-performance learning, Hasney championed reflective practice, evidence-based decision-making and continuous professional development among coaches and coach educators alike.

He strengthened systems for the education, assessment and accreditation of coach educators, helping to raise standards and support long-term succession within the ecosystem.

“Although I am returning to Manchester, my connection to Singapore and FAS remains strong, and I will always be happy to support Singapore football in any way I can in the future,” said Hasney, who pointed to the friendships nurtured in Singapore as a core memory he will take back to England.

It was perhaps the collaborative presence that Hasney brought to the football fraternity in Singapore that was the platform for friendships that he developed beyond the frameworks and programmes.

Hasney worked closely with clubs, coaches, Sport Singapore, the partners from beyond Singapore, including the Asian Football Confederation, FIFA and key partners to better align coach education with player development pathways and the wider football ecosystem – work that has gone some way in strengthening the foundations of coach education here.

The FAS thanks Hasney for his dedication, leadership and commitment, and wishes him every success in the next chapter of his journey, confident that the mark he has left on Singapore’s coaching landscape will endure.
