Still Aerion head into the new Women’s Premier League (WPL) season with renewed confidence after a breakthrough 2025 campaign that saw the team return to the top three for the first time since 2016.
Aerion’s 2025 season was built on belief, patience and a healthy team culture, a year that marked a significant step forward for the club. With momentum on their side and new players, Aerion now set their sights on competing consistently at the top end of the WPL table.
From the Camp:
Jeremy Chiang, Head Coach

On growth between 2024 and 2025
“2024 was my first season as a women’s team coach. I understand the team and how the game works a little better now, and I have a better understanding of the female players. In 2025, we had some players coming in, which helped boost the team. With that synergy, we managed to have a better season.”
On the importance of team harmony
“I think it was important for us to all be aligned and keep the team and the changing room healthy. Kudos to the leaders and the rest of the players. The changing room was happy, healthy. That’s one of the main reasons why we were able to last throughout the season together and finish on a high.”
On breaking into the top three after nine years
“We are here to compete, not just to participate. After what we have done, I think we have attracted players to join our team, and it is something we are happy to see.”
On personal targets – and one piece of unfinished business this season
“ The rest of my goals were met, but I missed out on beating Albirex last season. That is something I will try to fight for again.”
On what really matters – the players
“As a team, we have been doing fantastic. It has always been about the players. The result is the players, not about me. They are a group who can bring us to new heights together.”
Fonda Chai, Captain and Centre-back

On the significance of returning to the top three after nine years
“It has been a long wait since 2016. Once we realised that top three was within reach, the entire mindset changed. We worked super hard. Coach was always reminding us how many more games before we had our hands on the medal.”
On setting the tone for the squad
“At the start of the season, I wanted to lead by example on and off the field, hoping the good habits would rub off. But when we knew it was possible, everyone had to push even harder.”
On learning from experienced players
“We also had Nancy (Thailand international, Sunisa Srangthaisong), with international experience, who reminded us not to be scared of opponents. Just have fun, play good football and do the best we can.”
On staying focused in a competitive 2026 season
“We should not take finishing third for granted. Nothing is guaranteed. Everyone must work hard because every spot in the first eleven is up for grabs. With rule changes, promotion and relegation, it is not going to be a walk in the park.”
On aligning the squad for title contention
“With exciting new signings coming in, I want to get their buy-in and help them play the Aerion style, [because] for the team, our eyes are on the championship, and nothing less than top three.”
