Albirex Jurong Women’s FC enter the new season as defending Women’s Premier League champions and Singapore’s representatives on the continental stage, carrying the confidence of a title-winning campaign and the hunger to push their football even further. After a prolific 2025 season  – playing under the banner of Albirex Niigata (S) – marked by goals, cohesion and a unified dressing room, the team now prepares for a new challenge at Asian level, where speed, physicality and intensity will demand a step up in execution and mentality. With a strong core of returning players, experienced leaders, and a clear football identity, Albirex will look to retain their domestic crown while proving they belong among the region’s top talents.

From the Camp:

Kana Kitahara, Player-Coach

On the new season’s key focus
“Last season, although we won the championship, we lost our first match against the Sailors. I think our performance in that game was good, but the result did not go our way. This season, I want the team to be able to give 100 per cent from the very first match. We were close to scoring 100 goals last season, and I would like us to improve our conversion rate and be more clinical.”

On what drove last season’s success
“I think the biggest reason for our success was our strong team spirit. All the players and staff were able to work together toward one common goal, and I believe that was the key factor in us winning the championship.”

On oncoming challenges in the AWCL
“The level of football in Asia is different from Singapore, in terms of speed, physicality and intensity. Since this will be our first challenge at this level, I think the mental aspect will be very important as well. We want to approach the competition with a challenger’s mindset and continue to fight without fear.”

On showing Albirex’s quality on the continental stage
“I am not entirely sure how high the level will be, but we want to maintain a challenger’s mindset. We want to continue to show the possession-based football and hard work that we have been focusing on.”

On personal motivation and long-term goals
“What motivates me the most is the growth of the players and seeing them enjoy playing football. I believe they can enjoy the game even more through better decision-making and understanding, and I want to help them achieve that. My personal goal is to contribute to the development of women’s football in Singapore. As a team, we want to work hard to make the club’s name known across Asia.”

Rosnani Azman, Captain and Centre-back

On leading the team and staying consistent
“As captain, consistency in leadership is very important, especially when things get tough. I want to be there for the team and push them forward. As a player, it’s about making good decisions and improving my overall performance so I can help bring the team to a higher level.”

On what helped Albirex clinch maiden WPL title
“It was the consistency in performances throughout the whole tournament. It was difficult, but everyone always put the team first. The teamwork, adaptability to changes and communication were very important. We kept communicating and trying to solve things when issues arose.”

On representing Singapore and stepping onto a bigger stage
“It is always an honour to represent Singapore and lead the team. We know it will not be easy and it will be a new experience for me, but I am excited for the challenge to play against top clubs in the region.”

On standards, trust and shared responsibility
“It is about setting standards and creating trust in the squad. We have a lot of experienced players, and I am sure they will step up when needed and also be there for the young ones. It is important that everything is aligned tactically so we can function as one team.”

On team and personal goals
“For the team, it is to retain the title and perform at our best in every match. For myself, it is to be injury-free and always give my best whenever I am on the pitch.”
